DCA Members’ Meeting 2024

The association held this year’s members’ meeting on February 7, 2024 in Oldenburg at the Hotel Patentkrug. The executive secretary of the DCA, Mr. Quante, welcomed around

60 of the 169 member companies (98 participants). As in previous years, the event was held as a hybrid event.

The President, Mr. Stoelinga, welcomed the participants to the members’ meeting, in particular the 18 companies that had been admitted since the last members’ meeting in 2023, and presented the awards for long-standing memberships.

The following companies were honored for 25 years of membership:

Last year the DCA once again organized and participated in a wide range of events, including further training events at the Bohrmeisterschule Celle and in the Netherlands, the Members’ Forum in Aachen, the Trenchless Engineering Conference in Krakow and the Ditch Witch Customer Day in Barcelona. The annual congress – held last year in Leipzig – was also very successful, as evidenced by the large number of participants and the surveys.

The new sponsorship program was very well received; applications for the coveted sponsorship places for the next congress in 2024 should be submitted as soon as possible.

Results from various current DCA projects were presented, including the creation of the 5th edition of the Technical Guidelines, which is expected to be launched in the middle of the year.

The DCA representatives also welcomed a new member to their ranks: Bartek Fratczak from Subsite Electronics will be looking after the Eastern European market.

In the current year the association will also be devoting more attention to the issue of “skills shortages”. This involves the question of how to make the HDD industry more attractive to young people, especially women. In the “Women empowering HDD” project, a network consisting of six women has been meeting since October 2023 to develop specific measures. This includes, for example, a survey that was made available to DCA member companies at the members’ meeting with the aim of identifying key figures, the role of women in the company and any obstacles. The results will be presented at the next annual congress and an action plan will be prepared.

The DCA is also planning to create an HDD image film, which will be produced between the end of March and mid-June and then published on the usual channels. At the same time, a landing page will be created on which, among other things, job offers for interested parties will be placed. The DCA will continue to report here.

DCA board re-elected

This year’s ordinary members’ meeting of the Drilling Contractors Association (DCA-Europe) took place on Wednesday, 29 th March in Oldenburg’s Hotel Patentkrug. The DCA welcomed over 90 interested participants from a total of 52 member companies. As last year the event took place as a hybrid event i.e. online participation via Zoom was also possible.

The DCA board, headed by President Jorn Stoelinga, was re-elected for the next two years. As before, the members of the board are:

After the new election of the board President Jorn Stoelinga gave an overview of the tasks and goals of the association for the 2023/24 business year. In addition to the continuation of current projects, the focus is primarily on the completion of the 5th edition of the Technical Guidelines. The members and the entire HDD industry are expecting the publication of this central building block this year. The DCA will focus on the association’s work here. Other important milestones are the members’ forum on 3rd May in Aachen and the 27th annual congress, which will take place from 4th to 6th October in Leipzig. After the very informative three-hour event, the DCA invited its members to a joint dinner at the Patentkrug.

All in all, it can be said that in recent years the DCA has come a great deal closer to the goal set by President Jorn Stoelinga in 2019: “The DCA should become more European”.

This year’s Members’ Meeting of the DCA Europe was held on 26th January this year for the second time as a hybrid event. This time, the DCA was a guest at the Hotel Patentkrug in Oldenburg.

At the event, 21 participants could be welcomed on site, while online via Zoom-Meeting 53 participants followed the events live in front of the screen. In total, 74 participants from 60 member companies were present, with a total membership of 140.

The agenda included a review of the past fiscal year and reports from the various departments. Reports were given from the task groups, on training and further education, and on the association’s sponsorship program. This year there was also information from the DCA representatives, who reported from Italy, Spain, France and the UK. DCA President Jorn Stoelinga then gave a preview of the events in 2022.

For the work of the past year, the board was discharged by the Members‘ Meeting at the request of the auditors. As the only member of the board Scott Stone was re-elected as assessor due to his change of company.

Dan Lingenauber and Silke Goldschmidt were re-elected as cash auditors; Thomas Winkler was newly elected as deputy.

This year‘s ordinary Members‘ Meeting of the Drilling Contractors Association (DCA), which took place on 14 April this year in the Wandelhalle in Bad Zwischenahn, was realised for the first time as a hybrid event due to the pandemic.

The event in Bad Zwischenahn was attended by 17 participants in person, while online via Zoom-Meeting 61 participants followed the events live in front of the screen. As a so called „ticket“ to the event, a Corona quick test was organised for the participants on site. The event was also accompanied by a comprehensive hygiene concept in order to offer the participants a certain level of safety. Online participation, on the other hand, was possible without any restrictions after prior registration.

The entire event was accompanied by two interpreters who simultaneously translated into German or English.

After the welcome and introduction by Executive Secretary Dietmar Quante, DCA President Jorn Stoelinga first honoured the company Phrikolat Drilling Specialties GmbH in absentia for its 20 years of membership in the association.

The agenda for the meeting is presented below first. There were no proposals for changes.

The agenda was approved unanimously. Subsequently, the minutes of the members’ meeting 2020 are presented and unanimously approved without amendments.
