35th Oldenburg Pipe Forum

35th Oldenburg Pipe Forum

The DCA invites its members, partners and friends from the HDD industry to the traditional Oldenburg Pipe Forum from 30 to 31 March 2023, this time at the Weser-Ems-Hallen in Oldenburg. The event will take place one day after the annual members’ meeting of the association, under the motto: “Pipelines and cables – critical infrastructure and supply security”.

As the title suggests, this year’s topic of the Oldenburg Pipe Forum deals with explosive current issues. Water management must adapt to changed precipitation events by means of adapted water management. Also in the field of energy supply the move away from Russian natural gas in the wake of the war in Ukraine has fundamentally changed things and brought areas such as hydrogen and liquefied natural gas, and thus cable line construction, into sharper focus. The still current topic of digitisation will also be considered at this forum. There are 35 different thematic blocks to choose from this time, about 20% more than usual. This means that six lecture units will now be held at the same time so as not to have to extend the overall duration of the congress.

The DCA is traditionally represented at the event on Thursday with two HDD lecture blocks of three lectures each. Afterwards, the association’s ever-popular Drilling Saloon in Hall 1 awaits the participants and may be visited for an exchange of experiences. This year, you can once again look forward to top-class lectures presenting current aspects of the HDD industry in interesting projects.

The presentation block 1 will be led by DCA President Jorn Stoelinga. The block will start with a presentation by Tobias Männel, Dr.-Ing. Veenker Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Hanover, who will provide information on “Polyamide pipelines with 16 bar operating pressure: installation using horizontal directional drilling”. This is followed by presentation 2 “Drilling long under Lake Sakakawea” by Dipl.-Ing. Michael Lubberger, Michels Trenchless Europe GmbH. Finally, Benedikt Haider, GHS Separationstechnik GmbH will report on “Separation technology in special civil engineering – what really matters for centrifuges?”. Lecture block 2 will be presented by DCA board member Jörg Himmerich. First, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Philipp Dick, MOLL-prd GmbH & Co. KG, Schmallenberg on the topic „Umverlegung einer 34“-Mineralölpipeline – vom Umgang mit erwarteten und unerwarteten Herausforderungen“. The second presentation will deal with task group 2 Coating. DCA Vice President Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Marc Schnau, x-plan schnau engineering, Aurich will give an insight into the final report of the task group, which has been completed as Technical Information No. 6 finally report. Finally, Dick Vergoes Houwens, TenneT TSO B.V., Arnhem and Ing. Mark de Bruijn, NRG Group, Gorinchem, from the Netherlands will report on „HDD Engineering challenges crossing primary sea defence“.

As every year, the DCA invites you to its traditional Drilling Saloon. You are cordially invited to review the interesting lectures in Hall 1 with freshly tapped beer and tasty snacks and to engage in stimulating technical discussions with like-minded people from the industry.
