Seminars and Courses
As the trade association for the HDD industry, the DCA organises seminars and courses in the HDD sector together with its partners. It is responsible for the technical programme, the selection of speakers and the final examination of participants.
In the gas and water sector, basic training is offered for HDD technology for the further training of specialist personnel (technical supervisors, site managers and machine operators) according to DVGW worksheet GW 329 (Germany).
The course contents, instructors and final examinations in the individual courses documented in worksheet GW 329 (syllabus and examination plan) were largely determined, provided or accompanied by the DCA. The courses are still held in cooperation with the DVGW and the Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverbandes (brbv) at the Bohrmeisterschule Celle and in cooperation with the DVGW at Bau-ABC Rostrup. In addition to the basic training courses, courses for specialists in mud technology and themed days on special HDD topics are also held at both training centres.

The Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverbandes GmbH (brbv) and rbv GmbH are nationwide training service providers in pipeline construction in the fields of gas, water, district heating, waste water, telecommunications, electricity and industrial pipeline construction. The comprehensive training and further education programme in pipeline construction is regularly adapted to the current and future requirements of the industries. The Bohrmeisterschule Celle maintains a recognised course centre according to DVGW worksheet GW-329 for the ‘Training of specialist supervision and specialist personnel for controllable horizontal directional drilling methods according to the syllabus and test plan’. According to the DVGW GW 321 technical rule, it is necessary for the specialist companies carrying out trenchless pipeline construction to have the above-mentioned qualified specialist personnel. Training at the Bohrmeisterschule Celle is organised in cooperation with the rbv (Rohrleitungsbauverband) and in close coordination with the DCA. Bau-ABC Rostrup is a training centre for the construction industry in Lower Saxony-Bremen. In cooperation with universities and institutes, it also offers a wide range of practice-oriented further training courses for master craftsmen and engineers in the fields of asphalt technology, pipeline construction, drilling technology, specialised civil engineering, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), geothermal energy and construction machinery technology. In addition, there are collaborations with universities for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes as a dual course of study in civil engineering with practical training. For many years, the Deltares Academy, as an educational institution of DCA member Deltares in Delft, the Netherlands, has provided standard and/or tailor-made training for HDD and other areas. The certified HDD courses are of interest to the personnel performing the work on the equipment (maschine operators, site managers), clients, planners and others involved in the execution of HDD projects. According to DVGW Worksheet GW-329, every responsible technical supervisor must attend a training event within the term of the DVGW certificate.
In co-operation between the DCA and the Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverbandes (brbv), a further training event is held at the beginning of December each year at the Schlosshotel Kassel with the aim of providing further training for the specialist staff of companies certified in accordance with DVGW GW 302 in the GN 2 group.
The seminar is primarily aimed at technical supervisors who have an examination certificate in training levels A and B. In addition, it also serves as a suitable training event for technical personnel, site managers and supervisors who are active in the field of horizontal directional drilling.
