Seminars und Courses
As a professional association for the HDD industry, the DCA organises seminars and courses in the field of HDD in collaboration with its partners. It is responsible for the technical programme, the selection of speakers and the final examination of participants.
In the field of gas and water engineering, basic training in HDD technology is offered for the further training of specialist personnel (technical supervisors, site managers and machine operators) according to DVGW worksheet GW 329.
The course contents, instructors and final examinations in the individual courses documented in worksheet GW 329 (syllabus and examination plan) were largely determined, provided or accompanied by the DCA. The courses are still held today in cooperation with the DVGW and the Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverbandes (brbv) at the Bohrmeisterschule Celle and in cooperation with the DVGW at Bau ABC. In addition to basic training, both training centres also offer courses on mud technology and theme days on specific HDD topics.

DCA partners in the field of training:
The Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverbandes GmbH (brbv) and rbv GmbH are nationwide training service providers in the field of pipeline construction for gas, water, district heating, sewage, telecommunications, electricity and industrial pipeline construction. The comprehensive continuing education and training programme in pipeline construction is regularly adapted to the current and future requirements of the industries. The Bohrmeisterschule Celle maintains a recognised training centre according to DVGW worksheet GW-329 on the ‘Training of technical supervisors and specialist personnel for directional drilling methods according to the teaching and examination plan’. According to technical rule DVGW GW 321, it is necessary for specialist companies carrying out trenchless pipeline construction to have the above-mentioned qualified specialist personnel. Training at the Bohrmeisterschule Celle is carried out in cooperation with the rbv (Rohrleitungsbauverband) and in close coordination with the DCA. Registration for the courses is done via the brbv. Bau ABC is an educational centre for the construction industry in Lower Saxony and Bremen. In cooperation with universities and institutes, it also offers a wide range of practice-oriented continuing education courses for master craftsmen and engineers in the fields of asphalt technology, pipeline construction, drilling technology, special civil engineering, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), geothermal energy and construction machinery technology. In addition, it cooperates with universities to offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees as dual civil engineering courses in a practical network. For many years, the Deltares Academy, as an educational institution of DCA member Deltares in Delft, the Netherlands, has provided standard and/or tailor-made training for HDD and other areas. The certified HDD courses are of interest to the personnel performing the work on the equipment (machine operators, site managers), clients, planners and others involved in the execution of HDD projects. According to DVGW worksheet GW-329, every responsible technical supervisor must attend a training course within the term of the DVGW certificate.
In cooperation with the DCA and the Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverbandes (brbv), a training event is held at the Schlosshotel Kassel at the beginning of December each year. The aim of this event is to provide further training for specialist staff from companies certified according to DVGW GW 302 in group GN 2.
The seminar is primarily aimed at technical supervisors who have an examination certificate in training levels A and B. Furthermore, it also serves as a suitable further training event for technical staff, site managers and supervisors who are active in the field of horizontal directional drilling.

Note: Participation in the DCA Annual Congress and the DCA Members’ Forum also counts as continuing education according to DVGW worksheet GW-329.
