Education and Training
Since the founding of the association, education and training in HDD technology in Europe has been a critical component of the DCA’s range of services.
The module consists of:
- Basic training and further education of your operational staff
- the opportunity to participate in DCA task groups, workshops, congresses and member forums
- Promotion of young professionals at universities, universities of applied sciences and other Institutions for your prospective junior staff.
The aim of the training and further education of your staff is to steadily increase the acceptance of this environmentally friendly construction method among clients and planners by constantly improving the quality of preperation.
The professional planning of a HDD in combination with and high quality execution form the basis of a successful project. This applies equally to contractors, clients and planners.

Exchange of experience in task groups, at congresses, in workshops and at member forums!
In addition to the cooperation with our partners in the field of training and further education, there are regular opportunities for international professional exchange in task groups, at congresses, in workshops and at member forums. The DCA is represented every year at the beginning of February with presentations and a stand at the Oldenburg Pipe Forum.
The DCA Members’ Forum HDD Technology, which was specially designed for members in 2018, provides an association-internal platform for exchanging experiences in addition to interesting discussion topics on HDD technology. The forum is recognised as a further training event for DVGW-certified companies in Germany (Group GN2A and GN 2B).
A highlight of the association’s year is the annual congress, which takes place in October and offers top-class lectures, workshops and panel discussions as well as an attractive spouse programme. The annual congress is also recognised as a further training event for DVGW-certified companies.
The DCA thus offers a multi-layered field of activity on current and interesting topics of HDD technology, on the subject of subsoil and HDD, coatings, disposal of drilling mud and much more.
Promoting your future executive leaders!
The association also supports your future managers (young scientists in the HDD industry). The sponsorship programme provides financial support for student research projects, bachelor’s or master’s theses on interesting topics relating to HDD technology. The sponsorship programme will be endowed with € 5,000 per year and distributed or adjusted according to the topics at hand.

Training in the international field – language is no barrier!
The DCA offers its foreign members the opportunity to actively participate in the exchange of experiences at all association events (annual congresses, workshops, members’ meetings, members’ forums, etc.) by setting up linguistically separate groups (German/English) or by providing high-quality simultaneous translation with HDD experience.
In addition, the association is constantly working on the introduction of international basic training and further education in HDD technology. In the Netherlands, Deltares – an associate member of the DCA – has been successfully organizing training courses for machine operators for many years. Further steps should follow soon in other European countries.
