External task groups
Important topics relating to the HDD industry are dealt with within the association as described in specially established task groups. In addition, the DCA is also active in external task groups such as those of the DVGW or the Rohrleitungsbauverband.
The following task groups are currently active with DCA participation:

DCA responsible: Jörg Himmerich
Contact: Joerg.Himmerich@veenkergmbh.de
Status
The task group has concluded. All three parts of DIN 30340 have been published. DIN 30340-3 was the last part published in March 2025.

DCA responsible: Julian Hirsch, Bohlen & Doyen Bau GmbH
Contact: j.hirsch@bohlen-doyen.com
Status
The work on BGL 2025 has been completed. The results have been published in book form and online. The association would like to express its gratitude to Julian Hirsch!
DCA responsible: Dipl.-Geol. Björn de la Motte

The DWA (German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste) has started to revise the worksheet DWA-A 125 ‘Pipe jacking and related methods’. The worksheet, which is also published as a joint publication with DIN EN 12889, is being revised by the ES-5.3 task group. Among other things, the worksheet also describes the HDD process, which is why the task group was interested in DCA’s involvement. The task group has divided into the following sub-task groups:
- Planning
- Pipes
- Procedure
The DCA initially appointed Dr Tim Jaguttis from DCA member company de la Motte & Partner GmbH to participate in the task group. As Mr Jaguttis has left the company, the task group will be continued by Björn de la Motte, de la Motte & Partner.

The DVGW, together with the DCA task group, is currently revising the technical features of the gas/water pipe crossing guideline and will then submit the revision to Deutsche Bahn AG.
Three meetings were held in 2025. Each module was revised in small groups. The DVGW now intends to submit the draft to Deutsche Bahn AG. The next meeting will take place in Hanover in March 2026.

The new edition of DVGW GW 302 covers all trenchless technologies relevant to the gas and water sector in a three-part set of rules, whereby:
- GW 302-1 (A) was published in October 2023 and replaced the previous DVGW Worksheet GW 302 (2001-09 edition). It therefore already serves to assess the conformity of contractors in the field of trenchless rehabilitation and new pipe installation.
- GW 302-2 (A) deals with the process engineering for all relevant rehabilitation processes in which the utilisation of an existing pipeline route is carried out using or replacing the substance of the old pipeline. The preparatory draft of DVGW GW 302-2 is almost complete.
- GW 302-3 (A): will deal with the process technology for trenchless new installation methods without utilising an existing route. The preparation of this draft has not yet begun.
GW302-3 (A), Trenchless construction methods – Part 3: Laying of new pipelines – Process engineering will in future summarise the requirements of the trenchless laying methods commonly used in the gas and water sector, which, in addition to the flush drilling method (previously DVGW GW 321), include milling and ploughing methods (previously DVGW GW 324) and pipe jacking methods (previously DVGW GW 304). Due to the differences in the process technology, the following three sub-task groups (UAG) have been established in the Trenchless Construction Methods task group according to the aforementioned DVGW worksheets:
UAG 1: Horizontal directional drilling method
UAG 2: Milling and ploughing methods
UAG 3: Pipe jacking methods
UAG 1 will be chaired by DCA Vice President Marc Schnau. Andreas Hüttemann (Rohrleitungsbauverband) is responsible for administration and organisation. Other representatives of DCA member companies are also involved in this sub-task group.
GW 321 has already been largely revised and transferred to GW 302. It was published as Part 1: Unternehmen zur Rehabilitation und Neulegung von Rohrleitungen. The GW 302-2, Grabenlose Bauweisen – Part 2: Rehabilitation von Druckrohrleitungen is available in draft form. Part 3 Neulegung von Druckleitungen – Verfahrenstechnik is in preparation.
